The Emerge Scholarship is a great opportunity for women in Georgia, enabling them to put their skills to good use and to further their education.

The Emerge Scholarship is for women in the state of Georgia that are pursuing a post-secondary education. You must fall within certain income guidelines and be at least 25-years old as of June 1, 2020, to qualify. The scholarship is to help further the efforts of women with a goal to help those in need but that don’t have the financial ability to afford college. The scholarship offers winners between $2,000 - $5,000, but the amount does change by year.

Who is Eligible?

In addition to the age and residency requirement, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a US citizen
  • Attend a not-for-profit college with proper accreditations
  • You must provide a detailed description of your goals, plan to reach your goals, and how your education will allow you to give back to the community

In addition, your total household income must be less than the following:

  • Single person $23,500
  • Two-person household $38,511
  • Three-person household $52,863
  • Four-person household $62,257
  • Five-person household $77,014
  • Six-person household $90,059

How to Apply for the Scholarship

You can apply for the Emerge Scholarship online. You must apply by February 27, 2020. You’ll need to create an account which requires only your full name and email address. In addition to your application, you’ll need letters of reference, your transcripts, and your school acceptance letter.

How Recipients are Selected

The Jeanette Rankin Foundation selects recipients between the months of March and May with final selection occurring in June 2020. You should receive notification no later than July 2020 if you’ve been chosen. You’ll be notified by phone if you are selected. If you aren’t selected, you’ll be notified via email.

Winners are chosen based on their reasons to attend college and what they plan to do with their education after graduation.

The scholarship is about giving women hope and financial strength to pursue their dreams. Women that are awarded the scholarship are working to fight poverty and make a difference in the world. More than 800 women have received the scholarship and have gone on to better the community. In addition, however, the scholarship helps empower these women, allowing them to become financially secure, provide for their families, and use their education to empower others.
