Education Grant: The Pell Grant
Back in 1972, the Pell Grant was created by Rhode Island’s Senator Claiborne Pell. He called it the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant. The Pell Grant can be used for tuition, fees, room, board, books, and other educational expenses. Every year the Pell Grant provides access to education for millions of people and $20 - $30 billion are awarded annually.
